Howdy
I want to replace my rear brake pads this afternoon (first time) and I've been readin' the Bentley and it says that the self locking caliper bolts should always be replaced when changing pads. But, I don't have the bolts..., is there anyway around it? does it matter that much? or is it a definite must?
thanks guys

Re: rear brake pads: necessary to replace "self-locking caliper bolts"? (GTeye-16v)

I did it because some bolts aren't designed to be re-used (such as stretching head bolts), and I wasn't sure about these. Brakes being as mission critical as it gets I wasn't about to take half-measures. Can you run over to Chaplins and pick 'em up?

When we fit pads if it has bolt in with the pads we fit them but if not we just use liquid thread lock. The bolt is a standard bolt.

the factory applys blue loctite on the threads so they stay in place. You can do the same in order to re-use them. These are not stretch bolts.
