I really want to install a rear fog in my Jetta GLS. I've seen numerous instruction pages, but I'm the kind of person that works much better with visual aids. I'm most likely getting the Bentley Manual, but I want to know if it has clear diagrams about how/where to run the wiring from the euroswitch to the rear tail light assembly... If it doesn't, where exactly do you run the wire? How difficult is this mod for somebody like myself (a novice)? BTW, I've taken a few electrical engineering courses (like 2-3 years ago), so I have some experience with wiring; I'm just not exactly ready to rip apart my car and start a wiring splicing guessing game...
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
edit: Also, in order for the fog light to be properly illuminated, do you need to have the euro red/clear tails installed, or doesn't it matter?

Re: Rear Fog Installation Question - Euroswitch to Taillight wiring (agarc)

i have the bently manual, and it is not clear what to do for that particular mod... you will have beter luck with the other descriptions... the manual is good for a bunch of other mods though.. and you dont need special taillights you can pop out the dummy cover in the back of your current taillight, and the bulb holder is already there

Re: Rear Fog Installation Question - Euroswitch to Taillight wiring (vdubgti18t)

Oh well... I'm still going to get the Bentley Manual...
As far as the Taillight goes, I know that the bulb socket is already there, I'm just thinking about the actual illumination. The clear tail portion that covers the fog light will probably show up differently because the plastic is clear, rather than red. I'm just wondering how much of a difference it would make. When I look at my current taillights (stock), the red portion that covers the fog light has a different pattern than the rest of the taillight... as if they designed it so that if a fog were installed it would illuminate properly.
I just don't want to go through all the trouble to get the rear fog and then find out that it's not bright enough because I have the wrong tail lights. My Jetta is Galactic Blue though, and I do think the Euro OE tails would look really sharp... I'm just not sure I'm ready to shell out $140-$160 for them...
