I also installed this one in the foot well, helps me out if I drop soemthing down there and can't find it. I was gonna paint it black later on so it matches.

The lights are from a 2001 Jetta that I found on the junk yard. rear lights are 3 way switch, wich means they can lit up when the door opens, or by manualy pressing the lite or you can turn them off completly. The little one in the foot well is also from the same Jetta and MK4's have them under theis flip down visor. So what you guys think? I like it, lits up like a Christmas tree.

Re: Rear seat reading lights (NightRyder97)

sweet how did you wire them in
Re: Rear seat reading lights (jayseal22)

wiring is easy, there are 3 wires coming out of the rear lights, and two out of the little ones on the bottom. I wired them up at the sunroof switch. If you pop it out there should be 4 wires coming into it. first one is ground I believe, then the two in the middle are positive, and the last one seems to be ground again but I didn't use it. Now the key is in the two middle ones that are positive. If you wanna connect just the little light with two wires, you connect it to these two wires. Why? Because once you open the door or trunk one of the wires becomes ground, opens the circuit and you have light. voila!!!
Same thing you do with the lights that have 3 wires, figure out which wire is ground and which is for door ajar lights, and which is for continous light. Use some wire, connectors and that wire loom or sumtin to protect them and there you go. You need to remove parts of the headliner to do this and it can time consuming. But the end result is very good.
