Rebuild current motor, or swap newer one?

I've got almost 70k on my vr6 now, and hopefully over the summer I have neough dough saved up to do some preventative measures. Main things I want done are the head gasket and timing chain, since they seem to be the most common, expensive jobs for early vr6s. What I'm wondering is if I should keep my current motor and have it reworked, or look for a newer vr6 to swap (they seem to be somewhat easy to find around here). I will be taking it to a good, reputable shop, so I'm sure the job will be done right either way, so I'm mainly looking for the best option for the least amount of money.

Yeah...Going on day three now of the swap. It sucks

Oh well, the 2.9 PNP head, 268 cams, VSR manny, knife edged crank, and shine racing assembly/blue printing/balancing, will all be worth it
