I'm looking for up-to-date impressions on the Boostfactory SMIC from people that have had them for a while (the longer the better). Reliability, performance in varying temperatures, any known issues. I'm not curious in any other IC's for purposes of this post. Let me know if your chipped or running higher boost, also. Constructive posts only, please. Thanks!

You may want to try the 1.8t forum too. Late night questions take some time to be answered in here, especially technical ones, unless it relates to "how to take a picture."

The late night post was just for a bump, and about the pictures, all i can say is, hahahahhahaha. I'll check over there, thanks for the advice. I think the best thing it's got going for it is that it's cheap!! Good quality construction and easy to install; just make sure you do not plan on going beyond a 28RS or comparable sized turbo or you will be replacing it!

and as far as impressions a local guy runs one and said he kinda wished he went fmic instead because it was so expensive he could of had form, function and style for the same and not outgrow it when he did his build... but thats all i remember from the convo sorry i couldn't be more help

Thanks for the responses. I'm not planning a turbo upgrade anytime soon and if i did one it wouldn't be anything too huge. Last summer heat soak killed me to the point at which i almost didn't have fun driving my car, she felt like she was in pain.

Style is subjective anyway. If I got a FMIC, I'd have it anodized black to make it less noticeable.

To the OP, try the 1.8T forum and also, be sure to check into the Tyrol Sport SMIC ... lots of testing data on their site to back up their claims

Since then, I've modified the OEM duct (a lot!!!) to force air through the SMIC, then out the DIYed fender vent. It is still running as strong as the 1st day; I live in Quebec so my needs - as far as intercooling is concerned - arent the same as if I lived in AZ, so it suits my application very, very well. IMO the way you design your turbo system depends a lot on your intents with the car; what you do with it, what you want out of it, etc. I can only say that, for me, it provides excellent results for the $$ invested and for what I do with the car (my DD, no track, no drag). http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
