Where do you get it and how easy is it to install?
Thanks for replies
(Talking about GIAC)......well, they used to be "solder-in" chips (self-explanatory)....but recently the "flash" became available for the MKIV 12v's....the flash version of the software simply means that the new program is loaded into your stock ecu (so essentially your stock ecu is not replaced, instead it just reads the engine the "new" information).....soooooo.....you are either going to have to find a local GIAC dealer to drive to, or ship your ecu to a dealer (who will flash it) and then send it back to you.....you can find the GIAC program on fourseasontuning.com....i buy most of parts from there, and James is the man! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif ....if you ever give them a call, you will quickly realize this http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
soldered chips were obd-1, obd-2 are socketed, mk4's are flasheable
i know the mkIV 12v chip just recently became flash....it actually changed during my GIAC purchase (about 5 months ago), James had to call me and explain the whole situation
i just sent out my ecu to mjm motorhaus and it was 350 with next day air shipping both ways then i found out i can have it flashed for my cams which will give me a addional 35 and 25 which is nice cause with my intake high flow cat and headers i wanna see what see can do ill make sure to let you guys know.. cost be about 450 but its worth it to me..
