I sat in the 2022 R today, and I am 99% sure the controls can be swapped over. The steering wheel in MK8 R is more Audi like vs the MK7.5 anyway, much nicer to hold.
That said the air bag might be an issue, I m not sure if I want to be the first person to plug in the MK8 air bag in my MK7 and 'see what happens' when I turn my car on

heated steering wheel I've done some searching for this, but have not found anything. Has anyone retrofitted the heated steering wheel to the mK7 Golf/GTI?

You can buy an egolf wheel I believe that has heating no needed for mk8
