Reliability Question

hi everyone, i just test drove a new beetle GLX auto and i loved it...... even more than the jetta, it's definitely won me over, i just had a question.... has anyone had any problems with the new beetle that would shy you away from buying it if you had to do it again? 1.8T with automatic is what i'm interested in mostly, perhaps TDI, but those are so impossible to find here, it's probably not even an option for me. and please don't give me any lectures about driving manual, because i despise driving manual. thanks!

If you get a 2002 model, it comes with a basic bumper to bumper warranty extended to 4 years, so there is less to worry. Our three month old NB TDI has had no issues at all and seems solidly built in and out. There has been a recent recall on the oxygen sensors on the 2.0 NB's, but other than that, NB reliability is the same as that for Golf and Jetta, since they are built from the same platform and share most parts. Consumer Reports (for whatever that's worth) just recently rated the Golf TDI at the top of small cars, but they did not like as much the Jetta 2.0 and NB 2.0. They did not test any other combo. With any of the three, if you can get the 1.8T or the TDI you should be fine!!!
