I removed mine to find the ugly surprise of PRIMER under 1/3 of the decal on the right rear door. WTF? So now I get to source replacement decals/decal material to reinstall it.

Frau Helga - My late, great '85 Jetta. I peeled that black sticker off from between the windows years ago. I wish I had taken better care of this car; it rotted out due to my negligence, and now I'm building a Golf with its guts...

Doesn't the trim help keep the water from running down into the door? I know that the doors have drain holes, but I thought that the trim helped to keep the water out.

wow.. took me awhile to figure out what you were talking about.. I think it looks good in the first picture. If you can revive the paint with some cleaners, then go for it! Looks "newer" it seems..

That, actually, is a problem on my Atlas Grey GLI...paint's definitely a different shade under the black trim.

And it looks good on that wagon...dunno what I'd think on the sedan though. Wonder where you get that paint? I'd just as soon paint mine as fuss with the stupid decals.
