Removing and painting the Engine cover thingy

I tried to figure out how to remove the thing that says VR6 DOHC, but i didint really put too much effor tinto it, didnt want to break anything. Mines real dirty and ugly i wnat to paint it silver to match my car, and the letters red. anyone tried this?

Yeah, pry it out gently with a screwdriver, it's easy.

i thought it had 2 torx screws located between the plug wires?? do you have to loosen the wiring guides, too?? it's been awhile since i took mine off. i left it off, though…

Yes there are 2 torx bolts holding the cover on in the back under the plug wire guide. Once those are removed the cover can be easily removed and painted.

do i have to remove the plugs to romve the holder for them?
do you think regular spray paing will hol up tp the heat in the engine? i dont see why not but thought it would be a good idea to ask someone with experience on this.

yes regular paint will hold up. mine has been painted since last summer and looks fine. the only thing you will want to do is make sure you clean it thoroughly. get all grease and dirt that has built up on it over the years. after that, you should be fine and the paint should hold.

Remember to primer first. Helps paint stick.

Anyone know how much an engince cover replacement is? My mounting points are broken.
