Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

the inside handle? the trim around it slides off, slide it forward and it'll unclip, and come right off, then u can remove the panel.
Re: removing door handle (The_Hamster)

does the other handle, the one that u pull to close the door need to be removed too?
Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

yes. the cover on it pops off, stick a screw driver into the bottom of it and pull out, under are 2 phillips head screws, back in there.
Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

yeah you need to remove everything on the inside of the door first. There is a little inside trim on the door pull, you just pull that off and you will see two big screws holding the door card on. You also have to remove the ash tray, window crank, etc.
Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

i assume u also go the window winder, it's cover also pops off to reveal a phillips head, and the mirror adjuster if it's a manual mirror. then 4 screws around the otuside of the panel, phillips again, and take out the lock popper thing, and the cover/trim thing underneath it. now the panel will slide off, pull fromt he top, the bottom goes into soem clips that it'll come right out of no problemo.
Re: removing door handle (The_Hamster)

Great thakns a lot guys happy thanksgiving. im installing new speakers in my doors. I have some passive crossovers should i put them in the door?
Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

you cutting holes in the door panel?
much better way to do that is get teh stock map pockets from 88+, some had a speaker grill with them, or u can get them at the dealer. 5.25" speakers bolt right into there, no problemo, look into that before cutting the actual door panel.

as far as the crossover goes... wherever i guess, may get some water on it in there, or moisture, so inside the car might be better, under the dash or something.

Re: removing door handle (The_Hamster)

here's the door pockets with speakers in them, the top ones are 4.5" i jimmy-rigged to get to fit as you can see, and the bottom are what OEM ones look like with the grill etc.

Yeah im definately using the speaker holes in the map pockets.
Re: removing door handle (alphaDUB)

Damn, I never new it takes all that just to take the door panels off. I have to do that this weekend also. My passenger side door handle is out of alignment with something. I have to open it from the inside. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

DONT MOUNT YOUR CROSSOVERS IN THE DOORS !!
Water and Crossovers don't like each other...

Re: removing door handle (Kritter)

I say do it. and this is why. You take 2 plastic baggies and after you wires everything up you put them in plastic baggies. a couple people I know including myself have done this with success. Make sure you ziptie the end where the wires come out tight. try to mount it so the wires are going down with the opening of the bag. good luck
Re: removing door handle (eastcoastdubs)

did your outside door handle ever work or did you just recently have to start opening it from the inside?

MUUUAAAHAHAHA DAMN RIGHT! About time you caught me! stupid slob murican...

So something might be bent inside or the door handle could be broken. Take the door handle off, look inside the door and see for yourself, takes all of 2 minutes.
