Removing front VW Emblem off of Jetta IV

I want to sand and paint or powdercoat my front VW emblem on my stock grill. What's the best way to pop it out of there??

I believe you gotta remove the grille. When you do sand it, besure to get that sucker good. Primer first for best adhesion...and spray thin coats, thick coats flake easily. (Fixing to paint rear emblem) Good luck

remove the grille and just pop it out from the back. you can slide the whole piece out by pushing in 2 of the 3 slots (you will see what i'm talking about). the chrome 'skin' you can just push in the slots from the back and it will come out. i was going to get mine painted black, but i like the contrast between the chrome and a black car.
