Someone go the patience to explain the (quick) procedure necessary to remove mirrors for painting, (jetta 3) Tanks >- --

Inside the door you need to carefully pry off the black triangle....it is held in place by 3 plastic friction molly type clips. Then, remove the styrofoam insulation and undo the electrical connector. Finally, you will see thee phillips head screws. Thake them out and the mirrors can then be wiggled free of the car. I think you need to take the door panels off to get to the bottom bold....I had to have them off for something else anyway so I took them off, but I think you have to...

yes you do, i belive....but the if you want to just do the caps those come off too, but not sure exactly...they are kind of hard to get off, ive tried...and you have to be really carefull
