Removing Valances-Golf

506 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Jazz GTI
For the folks who have painted their golf valances themselves, or anyone who has removed them. Do you have to take the bumper cover off or do they just clip into the bumper cover? I'm planning to paint mine and want to make sure the body shop is being strat with me.
Thanks for your help.

Helloooooo does anyone know on this?
Re: Removing Valances-Golf (Jazz GTI)

My autobody guy over in in socal (Wetworks Garage) Yanked them off, no sweat, while the bumpers were still on the car. Took a total of like...5 minutes. This may not apply to everyone though. Joe is da man http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

It applies to everyone. I put the 4motion valence on, and once I removed the screws from the old valence, it came right off. It was a 5 minute job. I've heard people complain about what a pain it is to get the old one off, but it was a breeze with mine.

Thanks for the info. The body shop was saying that they have to take off the bumper cover and I never had to do that on my old V-dubs so wanted to check with those in the know. It make a difference in the labor cost i would think.
