Remus Universal... Sound?

Are the Universals louder than the application specific exhausts?
Also, does anyone know the inlet diameter on the muffler?
Thanks guys.

They both sound very quiet on a 1.8T until you remove the resonator and replace it with a straight pipe.
I have a custom-made mid-pipe which bypasses my resonator mated to a Remus universal muffler and it sounds perfect. The inlet diameter on the muffler is 2.25".

^ Sound clips of Remus universals w/ custom mid-pipes (no resonator) on 1.8T motors.
Edit: I recommend getting a TDI mid-pipe and getting a application specific Remus for perfect fitment.

Here's why I ask.
I want to get a 3" DP+Cat, and then have come custom 3" piping done to a remus universal muffler. I suspect it'll be quiet and very powerful.
Is this possible?

call Momentum Motorsport. they have excellent pricing on Remus now. i just ordered my universal for $220, and you can choose any tip.

Are you getting an ATP downpipe with cat? I belive the ATP downpipe is 3" but the termination point after the cat is back to 2.25". The Remus inlet is 2.25" so running 3" and suddenly going to 2.25" would hinder flow I think. You might have to get a custom 3" muffler or find a unit that has a 3" inlet.
