Remus

Does anyone know anything about a REMUS exhaust for mk4's. I have a 2001 GTI VR6. I was debating on a supersprint exhaust or a remus. I've heard remus exhaust sound sick but I dont think they have one for my car......yet.. Also is there a way to take off the resonator or something from the stock exhaust? I've heard about that giving it some power and crisper sound. Is this bad for the car? I mean i dont wanna do a cheap DIY mod and then have to be paying for it in the long run.

Re: Remus (Black MK4 Gti)

There have been tons of posts here about it - please do a search.

I have a Universal Remus in my VR6. Sound couldnt be sweeter. It is a very refined low mean growl, not loud at all. If you want a more agressive sound just remove the middle resonator and add a straight pipe or TDI mid pipe.
Re: Remus (Black MK4 Gti)

Remus sounds sick on the VR6. And yes, they have one for the VR6. At least for the Jetta, so I don't see why they wouldn't for a GTI. Are you looking for the vehicle specific or the universal?
Re: Remus (Black MK4 Gti)

Yes they do make a vehicle specific exhaust for the GTI VR6s. In fact you have several choices as to which manufacturer you want to buy it from. The reason being that the following listed exhausts are based on the Remus design, but have different brand names attached:
1) Remus (with a choice of several tip styles)
2) Freedom Design/Sebring
3) Oettinger
1 or 2 other ones I can't think of at the moment.
All of them work with the Mk. IV Golf under body, and all of them work for the VR6. If you want more details on this either e-mail me or check out my site.
Re: Remus (sniper27)

i got to take a ride in evotekvr6's jetta last night and it wasn't too loud...but i ended up hearing his intake more than his exhaust. btw, its a remus (vehicle specific exhaust) http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Remus (Dk-Trinity)

Vehicle specific is quieter than universal. i have a universal and is much louder than my friend's vehicle specific remus.
D - you have to take in a ride in mine...you'll definitely hear it.

Re: Remus (sniper27)

sniper27, i know you have a remus because i remember the pictures of your car. do you have the universal or jetta specific? what are the differences between the two? i plan to have my installer cut my stock valance like they did yours, so which one would fit better? thanks
Re: Remus (bergenvr6)

if you want to cut your valance, then the universal will fit perfectly. the difference between the universal and the specific is the universal is smaller and have shorter piping. it's not axel back. it allows you to custome fit the muffler, and since it's smaller, enables you to have it sit higher than the vehicle specific, which you need to make it fit with a cutout. BTW, I have the universal.
Re: Remus (sniper27)

so is the universal just the muffler or is it cat-back?
Re: Remus (sniper27)

so it's harder to fit the specific with the stock cut valance, or impossible for that matter? i'm definitely going to have the shop modify my stock valance, but i want to make sure it looks nice too

sleepswithdafish - Almost all Remus exhausts are muffler only. You can make the vehicle specific one into a catback though, by changing one pipe.
bergenvr6 - Nothing's impossible, although it would be a difficult procedure, and might not look very good...
Re: (roadsleeper)

it's not impossible, but it won't be a nice tight fit. look at the pics. in my sig. my friend's white jetta (ManWh0re), has the vehicle specific remus with the 4 motion. he had some modifications to the hanger to make it fit the 4 motion. but still not as snug as mine. still sits a little low.
