Re: Replacement shocks for 99 Eurovan Camper? (johnrg)

I just installed them on my 01 camper (see other related posts describing selection process and installation). After over 1000 mile trip through B.C. I have to report that they are hard!!!
I feel that ride comfort deteriorated significantl. At some point I had to lowere the tire pressure to compensate for jolts. Every joint on the interstate (I-5 near Seattle) is felt with a significant bump. That was not noticable with OEM dampers. Sure, handling improved a bit but less than ride comfort deteriorated. So, so far, I am not sure if I did a right thing changing to Bilsteins. Maybe I will get used to it. Or maybe I just prefer comfort over sportiness -- sign of getting old, hehehehe.

Yes, they will probably soften......130K miles from now.......
I also noticed that my left front tire started wearing inside, this might be the result of me lowering front torsion bars about an inch as i worked on shocks (van was lifted high up front when, some time ago, my dealer tried to level the van from leaning to the left and just lifted the front up). Maybe insatalling new shocks had some impact as well. I am scheduled to have an allingment done on Monday.
