Replacing crank gear bolt

I have a new crank gear bolt on the way, but not sure how I should prepare it.

I've heard several comments on this site.

Some say use oil to get rid of thread drag in order to dial in the torque accurately.

Others say use anti-seize.

Others say use Loc Tight stuff but didn't specify.

Can't find anything in the Bentley

What say you?

Get the Mitsubishi bolt from ARP - it may be a smidge too long but it is a bitchin bolt so shorten if you need to. Follow the ARP directions

I think that bolt is 195 ft lbs best to have car on the ground, in gear and someone standing on the brakes. Dont be shy you cannot break it.

Thanks . I'd hate to shear the sucker off.
That would be the epitome of butchery.
Given its a stretch bolt I shouldn't worry so much. I plan a little grease just behind the head and some blue loctite on the threads
just for fun ( but doubt it's necessity)

I rarely ever use locktite. A tight bolt does not come loose. Using loctite can seal the threads to prevent liquid [ie oil] from seeping thru the threads.

As tight as the bolt is, I do not understand why you want to cause grief to the next person that will be removing the bolt.
