Knock Sensor!
http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
My car has finally recovered from it's sickness! While I have been doing everything possible to fix it including replacing: coolant temp sensor, 02 sensor, fuel filter, hollowing cat, replaced rubber intake boot, injector O rings, cap/rotor, plugs, and many other little things...the #1 problem was ignition related, not fuel related like I had initially thought. It feels like an entirely different car. I don't know what i'm saying, I so friggin happy.

Re: restored power, found lost torque...whoa! (dubwerkz)

speaking of that....the rubber sheathing over the wire is completely gone and has left a clear thin platic wrapped around the bare and then the wires inside. Would it throw of the readings(ground itself out) if the the silver wire touches the metal on the tranny, etc....?

We're not talking Motronic by chance, are we?
BTW I love that pic of your GLI in front of Mount SI dubwerkz, I had it as my wallpaper for a while and was telling people it was my black GLI...

Re: restored power, found lost torque...whoa! (pastpargolf)

A group buy for bently manuals Ha Ha verry funny. Already own 3 of them dont need any more. Just askin what the original symtoms were. Besides my dog knowes more about V Dubs than you. And further more I dont need to get into a circle jerk or daisy chain when I want to buy a part. As I'm over 16 and dont need parental concent or hand holding When making a Purchas

PS. You are Hella Lame.

Aw come on, he was pretty funny.
A cracked knock sensor and/or a cracked wire to the knock sensor does NOT mean it's bad. The one on my friend's '87 looks like shiit, and it works perfect. Wrap it with electrical tape or something. I've taken the habit of putting split loom around the wire.

I highly, highly doubt that...

Even if it did, it doesn't have opposable thumbs, which makes wielding a wrench a little tough...
A bad KS would make the car run like the timing's messed up, since it is. The KS wants to retard the ignition timing, while the engine wants more advance to run well. In this case, the KS and computer win, and the car runs like poop.
Besides, if you own 3 Bentley's why not read up on the KS system to see what it's supposed to do. If the car runs the opposite, the KS is bad.

Re: restored power, found lost torque...whoa! (DonL)

Yes DonL you are correct he doesn't have opposable thumbs(Does have those stupid little dew claws thoe). And you are also correct he dont know much about V Dubs except that he knows they are cool and made in Germany his home contry (Great Dane, national dog of Germany) and he likes to ride around in them. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Also I dont need to read my manuals as my car is currently running perfectly. Crap should'nt of said that it will probably blow up today

PS. Plead don't reprint my spelling errors it's bad enough reading them the first time.
PPS. I almost failed English class, but I guess you already knew that

nope. My wires are fine. I think it was the combo of: knock sensor, coolant temp sensor, plugged cat, etc...!
