Restoring lost power on APR chip?

*back ground* For the previous week or so, i had been feeling the car was sluggish. Lagging even.
Ok, so i had a nail in my back left tire. I put the car in stock mode on the way to goodyear and drove around and the power felt pretty darn good for only boosting 10psi spikes.
I got the car back, and put it in chipped mode and the car felt stronger then ever. 20psi spikes in 2nd gear, 23 psi spike in 3rd, and 20 psi spikes in 4th. The car felt insanely fast, like i hadpicked up a few ponies.
Anyone ever had this feeling too? Kinda like you restored power back by resetting the ecu? or changing settings in chipped and stock modes or am i just halucinating?

I guess somehow you did a ECU reset or a throttle adaptation. Of course, after driving the car for a few days in stock mode, your senses are re-awakened with the extra boost.

Drew - my wife drives ours in stock mode all week - and I drive my GLI during the week - so when I get in the GTI and "Chip It" it feels like a damm afterburner!! You just need to drive a slow car during the week - and your car will feel killer on the weekends!!!
Do you have the throttle body adaptation feature? I do - and I do it like once a month - car always feels great......

Nah, i dont have the adaption, i use the vagtool for that.
I wasnt talking about the "feeling" of going from stock to chipped, im talking about actually restoring lost power.
I swear my car was peppier after i put it in stock mode, and then back in chipped.
Not the feeling of being quicker.
But, yah i see where everyone coming from. The car just felt like it found a few horses, thats all.

I have been wondering about the sluggishness for some time (although I have a awd car) somedays my car will break the tires loose in 2nd others it will only do it in 1st ... I tried a few things the only conclusion I came to was that my car was especially sensitive to high humidity? or maybe the cat's had enough of all that running (somewhat) rich and has started to clog?... no engine codes show up

Does the MAF not keep the car from running rich if one is using a chip?
Re: Restoring lost power on APR chip? (Silver_1.8T)

yes, i could completely relate to u. i know what u're talking about. its not about switching from stock to chip mode. nor does it have to do with heat soak or humidity. my 01 GTI AWD auto with APR had the same thing. One day its very fast, and other days it almost feels like an NA 1.8 engine.
and yes, I have truely mastered the art of restoring lost power since it happens to me so often. in fact 70% of the time, my car feels weak back then. I used to have to play around with:
1. Switching between programs
2. TBA
3. Fault Code Erase
4. Reset to Sport mode on auto transmission
it was complete hell. its like one day u feel the massive torque, the other day u can barely pass without steping on it.
and don't think its just u or some halucination. go run some 1/4 between the two and u'll find big differences i bet. i'm guessing +-2 seconds between the two extremes.
i don't know if this is an APR thing or if its my car. And sorry APR, i guess i am the first person to give a negative comment on the APR chip.
