Is anyone interested in a trip to the 'Ring this year? If so, pick a month.
A very useful site for info is http://www.nurburgring.org.uk

Re: Ring Trip (SkodaRS)

Sounds OK to me, haven't tried it yet. I usually stay just outside Koln, I get a room there for free, but this sounds a bit closer!
Re: Ring Trip (SkodaRS)

And it gets a good review on Ben's site (as listed above). Might book a room there!

Re: Ring Trip (TaviaRS)

i'm confused...

On the official calender the weekend 20-21 july 2002 is open to the public, but on the http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/english/index_e.html homepage (choose Events 2002) this weekend is booked with an event thats called "19.07. - 21.07.2002
AvD Sprint Meeting (Top Ten)"
what is it? is the hotell wrong or the ürburgring calender..?
Now I have spotted that the official event 2002 is right, the weekend 20-21 July is taken by some crappy race...
.. BUT the public list still say that the weekend is free... weird.. I have email them but no answer yet..

Re: Ring Trip (SkodaRS)

That's on the "short" circuit, not the "proper" Nordschleife, I think.
Re: Ring Trip (TaviaRS)

That is correct. There are much more events on the GPS then on the Nordschleife. Except from end march I can every weekend you wand.

Re: Ring Trip (SkodaRS)

Dick,
Is it a long drive from Rotterdam?
Greets,
Re: Ring Trip (jcgcs)

Jacco, from where you are to the ring, according to autoroute 202 Miles (323kms) and driving at speed limits just over 3 hrs, although I am sure that the actual time would be a lot less
Re: Ring Trip (jcgcs)

For me, from Spijkenisse it is almost 360km. Normaly I drive over there in about 3.15 hours. I am going this sunday.

Re: Ring Trip (diho)

Just for 1 day?
Drive 6,5 ours, and 'race'?

Re: Ring Trip (TaviaRS)

Jon,
What does it normally cost you to do a weekend trip to the ring - petrol, ferry / shuttle, hotel, x number of laps etc? Which route do you normally take, time taken etc?
Definately interested.
Ian.
Re: Ring Trip (Tavia4x4)

Ian take a look at bBen's site, the one listed at the top of this thread.
For me its:
Hotel - usually free, but if not 20-30 per night
Channel crossing 100-175
Petrol - 3 tanks there and back + however much I use on track ( call it 150ish)
Food and drink, varies
I but a years ticket, thing the breakeven is 55 laps. I usually do about 30-40 per weekend. Costs about £350 for unlimited laps.

Re: Ring Trip (TaviaRS)

I just came back from the Nurburgring. It was the firts drive this year and the first try for my new Porsche Biturbo breaksystem.
The wetter was great and the track was almost everywere dry and very gripy. But there was also some ice on the back side off the circut.
The breaks are incredible! I still can not believe the power that this system has. And even after 15 laps( 312.48km) no fading what so ever. For those off you who regular visit track days this is the break upgrade to have.

Re: Ring Trip (TaviaRS)

Im up for it.. July gives me enough time to get my engine wheels and brakes sorted. Might be able to keep up with you RS boys. If not, at least I'll be able to snuggle into my heated seats if it gets cold (which I somehow doubt!)
