I did all the coding. Lots of threads. The applicable one is for the steering wheel. The function of the star button needs to change from mute to PTT for voice command. All that done, but now the phone button does absolutely nothing. Not a huge deal. I can certainly reach the head unit to answer the phone, but it would be nice to have it work.

Anyone go through this and have an answer?

I had 9w3 from factory with RCD510 which I replaced with RNS510

And replaced BT to 9w7

I have multi function steering wheel (2010 Jetta)

RNS510 voice commands work from the RNS Star button and BT voice commands work from the mic button on steering wheel

Never had any issues, things worked as expected.

I used that link when I installed everything. Some stuff just doesn't work. For instance, the telephone coding in the link is 0010477. I can't enter the "1" (out of range). I ended up using 0000402, although 0000407 would probably work.

There is note under that screenshot:

"If you have the RNS 510, hold the left/right buttons and day/night buttons to reset the RNS to recognize the change. If you have a 2009, most have not gotten this function to work when equipped with 9w3."

I would recommend getting a 9w7, also you won't have to record each name before you can use them like 9w3.

Does the 9w7 work with a red MFD? I didn't think it did.

Edit: I just found this in another thread:
729 and 729B part numbered 9w3's are DDP (red cluster support). None of the 9w3 or 9w7 modules will use the phone button though - operated strictly though the MFA controls if available or the nav screen if available.
So I guess I'm done.
