Subject: [discuss] Motor announcement - Roadcraft Driver Training Day &
Playstation II, GTIV Rd 3 reminder

Hello All,

There is just 14 days to go until our Roadcraft Driver Training Day
(Saturday 10th November). I want to encourage any member who has never
attended a driver training course to get on line and book for this day. I
want to extend that invitation to members with children, neices, nephews or
grandchildren who have only recently started driving. This is driver
training, not driver licence rule training. The difference being that your
child/neice/nephew/grandchild will actually experience what a car is like
when it is mis-behaving and how to correct it - in a safe controlled
environment. For anyone that has ever had a vehicle aquaplane, slide, skid
or spin (and I suspect 99.9% of people reading this just put their hand up)
that is a calling card that says go and learn how to react to these

I don't want to sound like a doomsayeth, but unfortunately young drivers,
statistically, are at the forefront of road accidents. Anything you can do
to help them to become better drivers will go a long way to addressing this
problem. Our last Driver training day had a 75% attendance of drivers under
25. They all had a fantastic day and really appreciated how much they didn't
know about how to "drive safely".

We will have two certified driving instructors who will be running the day.
I also want to stress that this is NOT a high performance, track based day.
It is a day based around the Roadcraft skid pan where driving technique is
the focus - braking, smooth acceleration, manouvering in simulated emergency
situations etc. Therefore the type of vehicle you drive is 100% relevant to
the days activities. Yes we will finish the day with an extremely fun
driving activity, which will be to emulate the actual recent Suncoast Rally
Special Stage that was held at the Roadcraft Centre - but this is a
completely safe, non-timed, tarmac exercise to put all of the knowledge and
techniques, learned on the day, in to practice.

For $80 per vehicle (including 1 lunch) the value speaks for itself.

The day starts at 8:30 with registration at the Roadcraft Driver Training
Centre, Bruce Highway Gympie - just as you start to get to the outskirts of
the "metro" Gympie area, on your right hand side. We will be assembling at
the BP, Burpengary, at 6:00 am for a 6:30 am departure for those not sure of
how to get to the centre) and the day will run through to about 4:30 pm.
Did I mention that the day only costs $80.00 and $10- extra for any extra
guests for lunch??

To reserve/pay for your spot (and we are limited to 25 vehicles), follow the
easy steps below:-

1. Go to http://www.bmwclubqld.asn.au <http://www.bmwclubqld.asn.au/>
2. Then click on Merchandise.
3. Then click on Driver Training
4. Then select Driver Training Roadcraft Gympie, "VIEW".
5. Then select the number of vehicles in the drop down box.
6. Then click "add to cart".
7. If this is all you are booking for, simply press the "checkout" button.
8. If you have additional guests for the lunch (@ $10 per person) go back to
step 4. and select "extra meal" then click on view and repeat steps 5, 6 and
9. Once you have clicked on "checkout" you will go to the external "epay
site" which is secured (like internet banking) and you will need to follow
the steps (register if it is your first time buying through this site etc).

If you have any questions on this process email [email protected] who
is our webmaster (as well as the club President).

I really look forward to seeing some new faces at this event, particularly
some young faces as these are always really good learning experiences. If
you have any questions at all about the day, I have made my club mobile
number available below.

kind regards and happy driving pleasure.
