Taking a tally on what you Ladys and Gents prefer. I'm an engineer working for a Rotor manufacturer and would like to know what is preferred.
Please help me put what you want on the market.

I love the look of drilled rotors, but mine are rusty
Make 'em drilled and rust proof

No they are drilled after casting.

that only weakens the metal. if they were cast that way, maybe.
as far as the rust goes, it has nothing to do with them being slotted, cross drilled, or anything. its a little thing called chemistry. Mild steel(which brakes are) has a tendency to rust when not touched, or in our case, put to use. let your car sit for a week after a rainstorm. then, take the car out for about 5 minutes, and the rust will be gone.
Any anticorrosive a brake company puts on its rotors will come off after about 2-300 miles, and your brakes during that period will be not the greatest. Rotors wear down, and the anticorrosive stuff will wear off in the first layer.
Only way to avoid a rusty rotor is by having something like carbon fiber or Carbon Kevlar brake rotors. However, im not sure if you can afford to have 4 custom made rotors.(on average, one CF rotor for an F1 car takes almost 6 hrs to make)
So, back on topic, ill stick to my slotted thank you:

To be honest, I think we would all prefer whichever offers the best performance during high speed driving. Do you guys do any sort of testing that would allow you to determine such a thing?

Re: ?????-----Rotor Democracy-----????? (6cylVWguy)

I guessing the best rotors are slotted and cross drilled, however, they must be cast as such. any work done to rotors after the casting process only weaken the metal.
the best example are the cheap zimmerman rotors that are prone to warping bc they are drilled after the casting process. yeah, it saves money, however, they warp like its there job. I have seen 3 sets warp on a race track with less than 10k miles on all of them.
And, as another testament to zimmerman rotors, on the CVO spring track day on April 17th at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI, two separate sets of zimmeran rotors actualy broke from the hub. luckily no one was hurt. once i find pictures, i will post them up

My Zimmermans have been fine after racetrack use. They have a few thousand miles on them. Maybe as they get worn they they won't work as well?

high quality zimmerman rotors at their finest(and yes, thats two different rotors from two different cars on the same day):

ps: one had less than 7k on it, and the other had less than 10k

Not to be a jacka$$ or anything but the point of having rust free rotors is so that everything else on the rotor wont rust. Not the braking surfice.

you, as the engineer, should tell us what is strongest, best balanced, will last the longest under extreme heat, and provide the shortest stopping distance and find a way to make it rust PROOF and cheaper

as afore mentioned, that plating is only the top layer. one touch of the brakes and it goes bye bye

dude, your hub and the outside of the rotors will still rust. see your little picture post.. see how everything but the rotor surface is rusted... thats the point of a plating...
