Alright, there's a hose coming out the front of my block that's all rotted out. Someone told me it was a dealer part, and i'm having a hellova time finding one.
So this is the PCV breather hose, right?

This is my first 16v, the other (black one) is my 8v winter car.

Anyway, any ideas on where I could pick one up.. I've heard of just blocking that on the block and taking the hose to a catch can. Is that safe to do as well?
Thanks,
Dash

Re: Rotting hoses =\ (Dashivan)

that hose is expensive and yeah, a dealer only part. its very common to see them rotten...as theyre exposed to hot oil vapor for decades

you can run it to a catch can...id recommend not blocking it off though, as you want the motor to vent, and thats the only place they do from the factory.
also, apparently the scirocco 16v one is different (cause the airbox is on the other side) but a buddy of mine used a normal golf/jetta 16v one and made it fit, as i beleive theyre a bit cheaper.
