I have a 03 gti 1.8 when I go to the track to time my car and starting at 0 mph and then gun it while im in 1st gear what rpm should I reach to shift to 2nd gear with out blowing anything and also if Im in 4th gear to go into 5th gear

i've noticed that if i shift around 5500 maybe a little less my car seems to pick up better and go...don't the 1.8t's tend to drop off in power around this rpm range?

Depends on mods. The less you have done the more you will notice the power drop off.
