I went to ittsburghP for thanksgiving and took a trip to Sewickley Audi/Porsche (which is mentioned in the current european car magazine in the Ur-Quattro article) to look at all the goodies. While walking around the "back" lot I noticed this beast in the corner. I honestly almost crapped myself. Its gorgeous and it is the actual thing.
One of the salesmen said that the car was brought over by a longtime customer for the purpose of (in the salemans words) "software development" (don't ask I don't know). SUpposedly the owner has recevied several letters form both the DOT and EPA and the most recent state that the car will go to the crusher in three months. I guess the guy has plans to send it back to europe before that happens. I don't know how long it has been here, the salesman said he took a short spin in it and it was incredible

For those of you who don't know the RS2 is the predescessor of the RS4. Based on the S2 (in avant form) the RS2 was basically built by porsche. It has a 315 hp turbocharged 5-cylinder 20 valve 2.2l audi engine (the same engine in Dalhback racing's 900hp MkIV bodied Golf) and is quattro equipped. It does 0-100km in 5.4 sec and tops out at 163. Supposedly it can keep up with a McLaren F1 up to 30 mph. 1000 of these cars were manufactuered in a two year period starting in 1993. I dare say this is the only one in the U.S.

Notice the blue alcantra-

I'm in love!

Next time, turn off your flash when you want to take a pic of the interior.

Re: RS2 In The US (rs4-380)

I rode in a RS2 powered Ur-Q around watkins glen a couple times last summer...seemed pretty fast down low, but higher up (around 120) it didnt seem like it had much more grunt than a stock 225tt...maybe it was geared very low?
Re: RS2 In The US (dolemite)

Mmmmm 5cyl turbo
Begging for a big turbo

That thing, while very nice, is not in very good shape considering how special it is...

you know, honestly I didn't even realize that the door trim was missing until I saw the pictures. The whole car captures your complete attention. And the pictures may not do it justice. The car is driven, that is for sure, but it is by no means a beater.

The RS2 has a 6-speed, I beleive urs were only 5. Also, most people complain about the Rs's large amount of turbo lag, which is opposite what you are saying, maybe the Ur has an rs engine with a different turbo.

DUDE, you were in town????? Thats my local audi/bmw/porsche dealer!! I was just there yesterday and that RS2 is still there. The guy who owns it lives locally by me (we're both about 15 minutes or so from that dealer. we're in the wexford area) I see that thing flying around all the time!! AWESOME car just plain awesome. When I saw it sitting there yesterday afternoon I went over and just drooled for a bit.
By the way, that car has been here for a few years and I've also heard the stories about how he's been told to get rid of it. But I know it's been here for at least 2, maybe even 3 that I'm aware of. COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: RS2 In The US (rs4-380)

Imported from München (Munich), Germany back in '95 (a temporary German plate in the front; our fire brigade's used M-B Sprinter had one when it came from Germany). The (pearl?) white paint is somewhat ugly imho. Blue would fit the interior color muuuch better.

Hehe, yeah, I remember a couple of years back when we were in Southern Germany and I saw a blue RS2 and my reaction was like "Ohhh my God!!!!" My dad got scared and thought I had seen something horrible.

Re: RS2 In The US (rs4-380)

hmm...well this Ur-Q/rs2 thingy had a 5 speed, had some lag, but nothing i would complain about...
was the S2 engineered by porsche as well?

no the s2 was not done by porsche. It could have been an ur-q with the 200quattro/s2 engine (the same basic thing as the rs2 engine just not massaged by porsche). Its like how the rs4 uses the 2.7t that the s4 uses, however cosworth has made it into an entirely different beast.

Not to mention sticking a polarizer over the lens to cut all of the window reflections.

Nice! Although most tests I have seen quote 0-100km as 4.3-4.8 seconds.

i wish i had my scanner to scan the pics of the engine bay from the pittsburgh vintage g.p. in 2000. its one immaculate car. the missing trim must be a recent accident or something.
