Hello all you beetle lovers. I have to tell, I just got back from Mexico and sat in a brand new beetle RSI. The car was awesome. It had all of the RSI equipment of course; 24v 3.21Litre engine, 4 wheel drive, 6 speed trans, carbon fibre recaro seatsin a orange leather that looked like they came straight out or a race car (hello). It had an aluminum plackard in between the seats showing it was #245 out of 250. Carbon fibre door panels with alumium trim everywhere. It had 18" wheels with huge brakes. I think the Audi TT has these brakes.
The window sticker price read 560,000dls. That is pesos. I did the math and at the current rate it comes out to 62,222 American dollars. I wished I had it.
Before I forget the speedo read 280kilometers/p/h. I forgot to mention all the ground effects and the dual spoilers.
This car was awesome. Wish I had the money.
If you are looking for this car visit the local VW dealer inMonterrey Mexico soon. I think that as soon as someone with money hears about it, it will be sold.

Re: RSI Beetle (Pete O. Arguelles)

a bit much....you can get a better car say used 911 Carrera for around that price or a new Vette for about 20k less with more power...I think that the car should be priced around 35 to 40k...give it a market at least...no one would really go for that, probably why VW doesn't even make too many of them...not practical enough...

Re: RSI Beetle (secretwatersTTurbo)

I agree it is a lot. But comparing it to any other car would not do it justice. There is just non better than an RSI that I know of. This car was built for the type of racing VW's do, and I don't think that a new corvette would hang with the RSI in this type of racing. The vette would see tailights all day long. After seeing this car in person, I would throw rocks at a new vette. As far as giving it a market, how can you give a speciallty car a market. This car was not built to be practical.

Re: RSI Beetle (Pete O. Arguelles)

I fell in love with the RSi and I have gotten so many ideas from the car itself. Made me buy a Beetle in the first place. As far as it burning a Vette, I would pay to see that. The whole design of the RSi is quite unique and its a shame that there's only so many produced each year. I wish that I could to a showroom that had it. I heard that there's one in Kansas City. I think that VW is making a super GTi although I haven't seen it. Also, with the introduction of the turbo S for the Beetle, I think that the car is starting get closer to the way the RSi is. Maybe in a few more years the engine will upgraded to a 24v 6 cylinder bi-turbo monster sold at dealerships. The waiting list would just quite stupid and I don't think that my wife would ever forgive me. Nice to have a TT and an RSi at home. The only problem would be to decide on which car would go into the garage...

Re: RSI Beetle (JohnTT)

Yes this the beetle I saw with the squared off fenders and dual wings. It also had the red and white lights at the rear just like this one. I questioned myself at the time what there purpose was. I still don't know.

Before i forget the exhuast tips read REMUS. Car was just AWESOME. I hope the person who takes it home, parks it and just shows it, and just drives it on sunny days to keep it new.
Pete, by the way I like A2's only.

I'm from Mexico and today I saw a RSi arriving at my local dealer, I'm still astonished, the growl from their motor was amazing, sounded like a exotic car and makes me jealous of the guy driving it. Also has a very wide body
