Hey guys that are familiar with Josh and S&L, I have a quick question for you.
I roll a 1992 Jetta GL and it is in need of a new head gasket. It is leaking from the inside out, so nothing is leaking internally but I am going to be driving the car alot more now with my job (I don't want to put the miles on my '00 )
So anyway my question is: Does S&L repair headgaskets, etc and are they fair on pricing?
This should not be that expensive I assume, looking at the engine I know I could do this myself, but it is: Cold, I don't have the time, and I need it done ASAP.
Thanks MUCH!

Well did you buy the car from Josh? You might want to try Chad at SCI, service is more his game.
P.S headgasket = $$$
Good luck, Zach
And HEY get the name right!

Nope didn't buy the car from Josh. Actually I just got off the phone with Chad, thanks.

Also I really don't see how a head gasket can be $$ when the darn head looks so easy to take off... Unless you have to completely rebuild the head, etc.
Anyway I am heading down to SCI tomorrow to get it looked at.
Thanks

Yeah, it's my opinion that it shouldn't cost so much. Took me 4 hours the first time I did one. I guess they charge several hours labor on that one. Too bad, but meh...whatcha going to do. If you wanted to throw me a few bones to do it in your garage I could Sunday morning. Otherwise, Chad's the man

Well I am going to see how much Chad is going to charge me... He said something about replacing the timing belt as well if I haven't replaced it yet.
If it is out of this world, ya wolfie I will have you come over.
Beer and $$. I think I will have Mike come over as well so he can buff my '00, but maybe I will wait untill the spring.
Anyway I'll let ya know.

Thanks.

I just bought a tranny from S&L not 6 hours ago
Only thing is is that i forget who's car it came outta. It was someone else that works there, but not Josh. He did a Turbo G60 swap and used the cable shift tranny. I'd like to know the year of his car so i can find the gear ratios. If anyone can help me out thanks.

Yeah, chuck is PARTY_BOY. Crazy mofo

If you'd like me to do that on Sunday, just give me a call. I'm pretty busy except for Sunday morning, so I won't really be checking the tex much.

That's mah cell.
I'd expect a timing belt to be around $50. I replaced all the belts on my 16v and it totalled $110 buying them at schmelz
Which means that's about as expensive as they come. Anyways, I'll hear from ya if ya needs a hand, otherwise I hope you're very happy with chad. I love his place, and can't wait to see what he's going to do to G's bunny
Oh yeah...and beer during is the best

Don't be alarmed if someone answers the phone "Steve's house of man-lovin' and fetish gear, how can I help you?", just ask for Justin and they'll go untie him so he can talk to you. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

headgasket on an 8v shouldnt be too spendy, on a vr its a totally different story though

Re: S&L Motor Sports. (VW Lemming Cl0wn BEN)

Well I am bringing the car down to SCI (Chads place) on Sunday. Besides the headgasket I think there is something else wrong, maybe it is the headgasket and maybe not...
Who knows. But hopefully in a week it will all be fixed.
