Re: Scary Lupo! (mahoodlum)

Um, how would it fail emissions? As far as I know, the standards they meet in Europe are more strict that in NA. Besides, you just buy the parts to make it legal here, get it inspected and insured with them on, and then take them off!! It's been done with other cars, why not the Lupo GTI?

Yeah, I'm not sure about the rims either, but they're not bad for littl'uns. 16's would look better IMO. But still, one of the illest dubs I've seen in a while!

I was told the opposite - that American emission laws were stricter than here?
Although, come to think about it - we drive 1.1 litre 8v cars - you drive 4 litre V8's. I guess our emissions really must be stricter, come to think about it!

The Lupo isn´t sold in the US, so you can´t just buy the parts, you´d have to fabricate them. And you´d probably have to proof that your fabricated 5mph bumpers really withstand 5mph crashes (if not even proof that the whole car can withstand US crash norms).
It´s easier the other way round (importing a US spec car into Germany)

Ok, ok. Assuming that the VW is still all about Plug-and Play compatability, it shouldn't be too hard to mod it to US spec. Besides, don't the Lupos meet some of the strictest emissions standards in Europe right now?

I only Altezza lights have influenced European tuning community, that silver Lupo on the back got those damn lights.

Re: Scary Lupo! (A4Jetta)

Do you mean the silver car in the background of the picture of the Lupo? That's a Polo, with regular clear tails, not Altezza style lights. The Altezza lights only seem to be popular in Europe on stuff like H**das. I think Altezza lights are gash anyway, M3 style is much more tasteful!

Re: Scary Lupo! (Jez)

Once again, Duffy's Lupo !!! He must be really glad to see his car everywhere
But it deserves it! It's not only that evil look in the front, it's also the details like the original Audi TT fuel cap (!), the audi door handles, those fancy BBS rims and the Limited Edition Silver Sroth harnesses. I hope to see the car once in my life!
As to importing a Lupo in the US: The crar respects the Euro-4 norm, except for the 1.4 tdi and the 1.7 sdi, and it's safer than it looks.

Re: Scary Lupo! (Eolair)

Hypothetically speaking, couldn't you take two Lupos, import both to NA, do the exact same mods on both, and then crash test the one and keep the other?
(Anyone wanna chip in for a crash test model?)
