Quick question, do I need schrick (or other) sport springs when installing a set of Schrick 268's? 98 Jetta, 112Km's (~65K miles).
Thanks

no you do not need springs.. please trust me.. i am running schrick 268 camns for 3 years now and the car runs like a f-in champ... if you want to throw springs in. but my personal opinion is you will not need them. you might want to put chains, guides and tensioners in it with 100k+ miles

Re: (phatvr6)

Thanks for the replies. According to the schrick catalog, sport springs are not required but the way I interpret it if you do use sport springs you also have to put a 1mm washer under the spring. I just wanted some real-life experiences.
How high do you guys rev?

You are right, they are NOT required, but recommended. Schrick springs are meant to prevent coilbind in case you over rev the motor by blowing a shift, or down shifting into the wrong gear etc...
The 1mm spacers are required and are included in all Schrick spring kits we have. The "shims" give the spring the proper tension.
