Got a 93 golf with the stupid lap belt and door mounted shoulder belt. Is there anyway I could change this over to a normal seat belt?

I believe you need new doors, seat belts and B Pillar trim, etc. More work than it is worth if you ask me.

Yup. The later North American Mk3's, of course, came with "normal" seat belts, thank God.

So did the European Mk3 Golfs and Ventos, from the very beginning. So I'm sure all the mounting points will be there to install the seat belts inside the B-pillars. But there would be a lot of part buying... Not sure about new doors, unless you wanted to get rid of the existing track.

You only need new doors if you don't like the track. Pretty simple really, the B pillar trim should be easy at any junkyard as well as the belts themselves w/mounting bolts etc. You might need to replace the latching mechanism between the seats if the door belts are an odd size, can't imagine they would be.

What about the pyrotechnic pre-tensioners that are located inside the front door sills with manual belts? I wouldn't think the auto belts had those... but maybe, for the lap belt...
