I seem to notice that the seats are different in European made Rabs compared to US made(the railings are different with seat adjustment teeth on opposite sides) Does this apply to all models. I kinda like those European seats (horsehair an all) seems to be kinder to my back. Any suggestions to what else I could use . I have 84 Rabbit Turbo with seats comparable to a cheap movie theatre.

The problem with the early German Rabbit seats is, they tend to rot out and would probably be hard to find in good shape. You could just switch the passenger side for the drivers side to fix the adjustment differences.
Or, you could just do the GTI, GLI, Mk2, Scirocco or Corrado swap to get some more comfortable seats.
