Don't know if anyone has posted this before (search is still down...). But when I was reading the topic on the high beam on with no keys in for acc operation, I remembered I had a tweak some where concerning the MFA.
So here it goes. Put your key in (no turn yet). Press and hold the MFA button. Turn key to acc. position. Turn key all the way back. Turn key again to acc. position (no, it's no joke...
Image
). Release the MFA button.
You are now in the 'secret' MFA operation mode. Below you see a overview of what the codes and numbers mean. Nice gadget: the digital rev counter
Image

MFA switch on position 1:
1. Engine code
2. Land code
3. Speedometer
4. Upper rev limitter
5. Lower rev limitter
6. Decelaration fuel pressure
7. Display test
MFA switch on position 2:
1. Test programm of programmed bytes
2. G60 pressure meter
3. Digital rev counter
4. Fuel usage (like normal)
5. Signal from speedo sensor
6. Oil temperature (like default)
7. Ambient temperature (like default)
The codes given below are for G60 (see MFA2-2). But they also work for 8v and 16v (without the boost pressure off course...)
MFA menu will go back to deafult when you turn to key back and turn it to acc. mode again (without pressing the MFA button off course).
Hope you enjoy it all and that I am not telling a 'tale' you allready know cause it was plenty off time on Vortex

This is at the end of the windshield wiper stalk. Slide the switch to the left to get MFA 1 readings and slide it to the right to get MFA2 readings. Sliding it outwards towards the 0 clears the settings for that specific MFA.

Dou you have any pictures of your wiper handle?

Somewhere, but I can tell you now it doesn't have that on it, the switch like that.
But it has to be somewhere, right?

Yeah, nice pic.
But, you don't need it if you're going all the way. Then it simply stops and you know you are doing 6750 rpm...

Spawn: Nice site and explanation. Didn't know that one.

Qould've been good to know when I turned a used 7k tach into an 8k... Would've been able to confirmed it worked before I dyno'ed.

How did you turn your tach into a 8k one? I am thinking about a 16v tach swap (speedo and maybe rev.) for my 8v.

SWEET CODES. now i can actually see my actual RPMS and mph. i made some cool guage overlays for my GTI, but i put the needles on and they're a bit off, and i haven't gotten them quite right so far. i think i'll go check them out right now.
