You know, with everything going on and the fact that we had so many cars turn out, I TOTALLY forgot to get out my applications.
I just emailed you one. If anyone else would like one, please let me know. I'll be organizing some events for '02. I'm hoping I have my new car by mid Feb so we get a caravan to go up to 1552's Winter Treffen.

Then you would HATE the "Kompressor" badge on my car.

Sorry I couldn't make it to this one; wife got a stomach virus and she wouldn't hear of me leaving her with all the kids and dogs.

The problem where the hotdogs and the patties...The only BBQ meat product until Manny arrived was churrasco...We need to improve on logistics. maybe we can run a collect before the GTG and secure some funds to purchase the food B4 the GTGs.

Re: SFGTG 7 pic.....post em (ROCKRLR)

I say we get lot's of food in advance but we charge for it. Something like $3 per person for unlimited food and drinks. Whatever is left over in terms of food cost vs money recieved will be used to pay for the next event's food and reservation of the park. I don't want to see a profit made, but I don't think that people like Justin, Manny, and the like should be forced to take on a large part of the costs at every event. If we have left over $ after we pay for everything than maybe we can lower the cost for the next event or have give aways like shirts, hats, even performance products. (Upsolute, DVS Products, etc...)
The problem that I see is the more popular this get's, the more people we're going to have turn out for free food and drinks. If we maybe get some money ahead of time, that would be good too. I just think that we're going to have problems with people coming, contributing nothing, and getting as much as they can eat/drink for free.
I know this event was fairly easy in the past, but the larger it get's (as clearly seen by Saturday's turnout) the harder it will be to manage.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
One last note...
For those who felt a need to drive like morons throughout the park, peel out while leaving and act like a general buffoon. Please don't do that at the next event. I know it's fun but as I was leaving 2 cops rolled by and from what I heard were forced to "camp out" while the rest of the event wound down.
Let's be courteous and realize that this is a public park that allows us to take over a small part once every 3 months or so.
Thanks everyone, the lecture is over.

Vickers,
You are kidding, right? Don't be ashamed of owning a VW, be proud! On second thought, maybe I'll put a few M3 badges on my S4.
I've learned two things from the last two GTGs. A) Don't bring friends, they get bored to tears, and B) Don't get there before 2pm.

Kompressor is supercharged and the Turbo badge is just that, a turbo. Just cause it came off a Porsche or a MB shouldn't matter. I know a lot of SC'd VR6's witht the Kompressor badge on it. I also know a bad a$$ Golf 1.8T with a turbo badge on it that will teach ANY car at our GTG a nice lesson in humility. (BillyT)
Your M3 reference doesn't fit. It's apples to oranges. You don't have an M3. He does have a supercharger or "Kompressor" same goes for the turbo.

"Kompressor is supercharged and the Turbo badge is just that, a turbo."
EXACTLY! I'm not ashamed of anything, I put the Kompressor badge on there after my wife suggested it (she's German and saw it on a MB, said "hey, you have a S/C, you ought to get one of those").
It's not like I took the VW badges off, I even added the VW 2.0 badge! I should take some pix...

agreed.
ESPECIALLY friends that are driving their non-VW/Audi cars. I just wish we could keep the VW/Audi events strictly VW/Audi...... this is not a Nopi show and not tower shops. If you have friends that don't own a VW/Audi, thats cool, but do they each have to come in their own riced-out cars???? Not to sound like a little b*tch, but this is happening too often frequently, and i don't want the GTG's (as well as the tuesday night meetings) to get de-valued....

This comment flat-out pisses me off.....
unfortunately its this kind of attitude that makes the attendance of the GTG's so sporatic.... thats why everyone's not there at one time (for a photo or whatever), b/c people come at all different times for like an hour. Not to mention people come at like 2 p.m. just for the free food, then tail out of there after only hanging around for a half hour.... i saw at least 10 cars spend less than 45 minutes there. And almost everyone ate. That's kind of sad. I think Steve is on to something here...... maybe if they did charge a small admission fee (to cover the price of the food), it would get rid of the freeloaders..... (i LOVE to see a lot of VW and Audi's coming together, but half of them being there just for free food really kills the vibe, a lot of negativity and brevity running rampant.....) People aren't expected to spend all day there..... but more than an hour of your day once every two months isn't too much to ask.....
...and about the food.... we know we were short on the food, the person in charge of bringing the hamburger patties did not show, and already apologized for it. Nevertheless, we did manage to scrub up some money out of the donation bucket and make a grocery-store run and pick up some more patties, and countless hamburger and hotdog buns (..as well as more hotdogs)..... so technically we didn't run out.... if some people just would have stayed for the re-fuel

...and lastly about the speeding.... i was pissed because i got a serious earful from the park attendants twice... i am no ambassador or leader for the GTG's, but frankly, (and not to sound like a prude), i'm all-for the speed-traps in the park. Anyone who wants to do a burn-out AT the GTG is a f*cking moron in my opinion. Who are you trying to impress? We all have VW/Audi's, we know what they can do. There is a time and place to race, and its on the street or at the track - not in a nationally protected reserve.... Not to mention you don't think you can't hear a peel-out all the way at the gates of the park? Considering i was hearing it throughout the whole day, i'm surprised the cops didn't arrest anyone. It's about image folks. We are acting as ambassadors for VW/Audi, and you want to make VW/Audi look like a bunch of thugs or hoodlums?? Remember we're better than the competition, so lets reflect that image. Again, not to sound like an old man, but damn, this is plain common sense.....

BTW Bud, nice pics.... i'm going to buy you a tripod to help you level-out your camera. either that or a straight-edge, LoL......
Vickers, i was wondering where you were...... 3 people asked me if you were there.
Anyways, to everyone else, it was an excellent GTG, many thanks to Manny & his wife for supplying majority of the food and (in his wife's case) the labor!! She gets my vote for the most frequently un-appreciated person at each GTG! Thanks to Jim for offering his services (maybe we get an UPsolute sponsorship next event and/or UPsolute banner????) and Chris for the downpipe sales....... i was thinking how great would that be if we are able to set up a swap-meet area?
peace out... "catch you on the flip side", as Wilson Tai (with black turbo) always says.......

To all the guys with Porsche Turbo and MB Kompressor badges, it's all good. You spent your cash and you can do what you want. I still find it a bit riceish. Out of 10 Integra Type-Rs you see on the street, how many are legit (maybe 1?). And even though your cars have s/c's and turbos I'm still not sure if it's appropriate. And the worst thing is you know the snooty 911 and MB owners think, a)That guy thinks he's in a 911/SLK, and b)he's obviously embarrassed to be in a VW. Now I know that's not the case, you guys love your cars. I just think it tarnishes the image a little. I know of a dude that owns an S4 Avant, he mounted an RS4 badge to the trunk. Definitely not cool. It's only my opinion, I don't even value it!

Re: SFGTG 7 pic.....post em (KingVR)

Thanks scott for sticking to the topic....if you want to dwell on all the things that went wrong with this GTG, start a new topic! But since that won't happen.....As far as the food issue, I'm all for charging at the entrance and stamping hands or something if your intent is to eat, those who bring supplies excluded of course. To those fools who feel the need to show off when no one there is even mildly impressed by your antics: I'm guessing you've never lost anyone to reckless driving or even comtimplated the notion, imagine a small child wandering out into the road as you're showing everyone how much noise your stupid car can make - how would you feel if you took that child's life? Would it change yours forever? If not then you are the spawn of satan and do not belong at these events or in society in general. [gets down from soapbox]
BFY - I was going to send those pics to Maxpower and superstreet
They need something though........BAaaa BAaaaaa

BFY, BIG ditto. Someone needs to be in charge of collecting $5 from each person that comes in, I don't like the idea that i paid for some on to eat that was there for and hour and spun his tires through the park(not the type of person I want to feed). I couldn't sponser this time because I had chips for $50 off for the holiday special. Chris will be chipping at the next event, If he wants to make a per chip donation that's up to him. I can get the banner, let me know ahead of time. I was amazed as I would be talking about the aholes spinning their tires and driving 40mph through the park dodging joggers while I was chipping and the people would agree and then go spin there own tires. Sometimes I act like a moron on the street, but never in a 15mph park with lots of people taffic on narrow oneway roads(We will not be allowed back if we cause problems).
Sorry for the complaining, but I would hate to lose this site.

I feel unappreciated now. Sorry if you missed the flank steak I brought. I BBQed 15 pounds of prime Argentinean meat, which people hanging by the grill devoured as soon as it was taken of the flames. It was the only food being served until Manny arrived with the hotdogs.
I agree that something has to be done about the freeloaders and the GTG logistics.
