Shift light question

For anyone that has installed an aftermarket tach or a shift light, which wire do you connect for the RPM signal? I'm triing to install a shift light and I can't figure out where to connect it.

A shift light? Shades of the 80's, when we where all trying to figure out how to remove the factory shift light.
