I don't much like the feel of my stock shifter. I was wondering if a kit will help that much or not. I guess I'm asking for you guys to persuade/dissuade me from spending the 50-75 bones on one. Thanks.

Re: short shift kits, info. wanted (VW-BMW)

I liked mine I had on my golf, I'd suggest replacing the rods and bushing as well, and it will fell like a new car. Or just do the rebuild kit bushings and rods and then the arm with the holes in it. BTW worthwhile plug: http://www.tttuning.com
You might also look into a weighted shift rod, but making your own is way cooler and cheaper! It shifts a bit smoother, not as notchy. And get the TT one best price and quality! And a very compleate rebuild kit.

I think most of the short shifter kits are going to be around 50 or 50 bucks.
Lately I was wondering, if anyone could help me out too, if you cut down the stock shifter about 1 -2 inches, if it would help the performance of the shifter or if it would just make it notchier with a short shift kit.

It depends on what you are looking for. If the shifting feels sloppy, and you want something to tighten it up buy new bushings, and replace worn components. Replacing these components will make a drastic difference. I would say try that first. It will cost quite a bit less if all you needed to do was replace bushings.

Re: short shift kits, info. wanted (addictedtodub)

The car has only 27xxx miles so I don't need anything to be rebuilt. Just looking for something to shorten the throws and wondering if any of the kits also improves the feel.
The wife gave me the go-ahead to order one online as my V-Day gift. how cool is that?

Cutting it down would make it a longer throw
