what tools do i need to cut the my ****er shorter and re-thread?What is the eaziest way?

*Edit: I forget they show a tubing cutter in that link... While that would work, I'd rather just use a dremil tool and take some time making sure everything is nice and cleaned up before recutting the threads.

Screw the dremil. Go to home depot and get this pipe cutter thats similiar to the one in the pic. Its like 10 bucks. It will make a perfect cut and its easy as poop

Hacking off the gear shift lever does not make for a short shifter. What you would end up with is a short gear shift lever. This does not result in shorter gear shift travel, and it does result in making the effort necessary to shift gears increasing.
A short shifter, is comprises of one or two modified shift linkage levers under the hood which results in shorter gear shift travel.

Yea I cut about 3 inches off mine and is makes a huge difference.
I also have a short shift kit, but with the stock gear knob it really felt worthless. Too much flexing.
I got a mk4 knob and its sitting as low as it can go. I might even try and trim it to go even lower!!!!

go out and buy a tap and dye set. thread it down to where you want it, and use a pipe cutter or cut off wheel and chop away the part you dont want
