Re: should i buy a 180 TT or 225 or a 98 corvette (ericjimenez)

For same price as Corvette, you can get the TT and put in a twin turbo VR6 (HPA Motorsports) and kick the CRAP out of the Vette. GM SUCKS! Go Audi/VW and you won't be sorry 60,000 miles down the road. Even if you just put in a mild turbo upgrade, that car will be so much more fun to drive.....even in bad weather you have the comfort of All Wheel Drive and German Engineering. Just say NO ...to GM!

I'd take the TT simply because it isn't a Chevy.

Seriously, the TT makes a great daily driver, it's fast, and it turns heads. Vettes never catch my attention, personally. The Audi is reliable, handles great, etc.
Unless you're 50+ years old, buy the TT. 90% of the Vette drivers around here gray-haired old men driving 35mph. The other 10% are women.

Depends
I mean a chipped TT is gonna get its *ss handed to it all day every day for 100,000 miles by a Vette.
Depends on what your looking for. Both are nice cars with a different type of driver in mind. What kills me is all the people who bust on the vette with negative comments about the interior. If I buy one of those cars I by that car to go fast. I'm talking about taking that thing and getting on it big time. The last thing in my mind when I'm punching the throttle is the feel of the dash or the suppleness of the leather.
If your that concerned with the feel of the inside buy the TT.To an extent, Vettes are collectors cars ( some models more so than others ). In 10 + plus years which car is gonna be worth more ? I doubt the TT would be worth as much. You can find old vettes that are in the $50,000 to $80,000 ( extreme cases ) range if the condition is right. I don't see anything like from VW - Audi

50k? What!? Maybe a Classic Muscle car with the 427 or a Lingenfelter of some sort, otherwise you are on crack because I can find MINT C4s all day for under 30k.
If you get the TT you should get the 225 because it has beefier internals, AWD and is more fun/useful in all conditions. If you invest 10k in mods you will have one heck of a quick TT that will satisfy you more than any <good weather only> Corvette can give you. On top of that it is safer than a Vette, higher quality, lower insurance rates and better gas mileage.....and with mods *almost* as fast. There was an 11 second TT in a magazine recently so if you want to go like hell you can.

Heck, if that is the only criteria for buying a car save your money and get a Camaro SS ....put intake, exhaust, headers, chip and you have more than that plus it costs less. Or wait for next years Mustang Cobra with 390HP for 35k. Anyway you look at it, you have to ask yourself this: "Do you want quality, refinement, functionality, longevity and reliability?" - OR - "Do you want raw, obnoxius power that is not practical, not cheap, not safe, not enduring, and what everyone else has on main street."

ericjimenez, where do you live? Will this be a daily driver? What kind of drving record do you have? Me, personally, would rather have the TT, but then again, I love Audis. Corvettes (especiall C4s) are hard to get out/into, are very plasticky, any body damage is very expensive to fix (fiberglass), don't drive great(rattle, squeak). Tires for the C4 will be expensive. I wouldn't consider drving a vette in the rain or snow very fun. Also, the TT will have a warrenty, plus, when taken care of, it will make 200k+ miles, the vette will never make it to 150k. Get a 225hp TT.

TT is better on insurance. TT is better in the snow. TT has better seats. TT looks better. TT will get you women who look better

The Vette is faster.
