I just got my side exit exhaust done and the shop that did it wanted to know if you guys would buy a SS side exit exhaust Mandrel bent with a Magnaflow straight threw muffler or something. The cost would be well under $500 maybe under $400. I'll get pictures of mine up as soon as I can, however mine is just Aluminized and it's got no muffler. You can hang it yourself in under 30 minutes. I did mine so that it bolted right up to the ATP down pipe so 3 bolts and remove the mid support and it was in. With only 1 bend I can say that next to nothing this is probably the least backpressure you going to see! There is a Black Golf in EuroTuner that has a side exit exhaust similar to mine. I'll see if I can get a picture of that system as well to show you how it looks.

Re: Side Exit exhaust 3" 1 mandrel bend in the whole system. (Jman5000)

just in front of the drivers rear tire. I've been over bumps and I've got 1" drop on my car with 18's and 235/40's I've not had any problems so far.

Re: Side Exit exhaust 3" 1 mandrel bend in the whole system. (Silvino)

Should be the same as the Ko3 downpipe just a different flange up top and stuff. But since it has to bolt to the catback in the same place all should be well. Let me get some photo's of my system and I'll let him know I've got a few interested parties. He going to build a demo unit with a muffler an SS in a couple weeks I'll get some pics then too.

This sounds like a great system, give me more details when you get them. Thanks bug power. BTW, the k04 is up and running, and I love it, I've currently got a 2.5inch turbo back, and I would be amazed if there was improvement over this setup.

Good idea, but it could be illegal in most states to move the exit point of the exhaust.
Check with your local law peoples about it. And a shorter exhaust can flow easier than a long exhaust

1. Dynos
2.Diameter?
3.SS?
4.Legal?
5.With alot of side exit exhausts running that short of a route from the engine, it tends to make alot of deposits on the side of the car over time, is this gonna be a problem? If so, will a heatshield be nessecary? ( which will look weird on a side exit exhaust)
Thank you

If you guys want dynos then you're going to get various responses. I can plug this into a T3/T4 that once had a stock exhaust and gain 50 WHP or more. Is that going to be a good comparison? This type of exhaust is good for the big boys who REALLY need the airflow. If it's that straight through and mendrel bent then you'll make power if the rest of your rig is ready to step up.

1"??
Being dropped 3" it would probably last a week before getting crimped shut. Otherwise I think it'd be tres cool.

I also made a side-exit exhaust for my all-wheel drive New Beetle rally car. I ended up bubbling the tunnel for the exhaust, then cut through about eight panels (then re-welding them) for the tailpipe to exit. It looks cool, and is no lower than the sills. 3" all the way from the turbo back.
