Thinking of buying a roof rack that will fit say 2 pairs of skis and maybe a box / luggage carrier as well. Any ideas on which make / model to go for. Any experiences with them?

I have a Thule, and I like it. Expensive, though.
I used it on my Passat wagon. I sold the wagon, so I bought the feet so I can use it on my wife's Passat Sedan. And, I need to buy other feet if I want to use it with my GTI. They really get you.

Thanks guys, the general consensus seems to be Thule. Now it's just a case of finding a shop that sells one here - easier said than done!
Is it easy (and cheap ) to swap from say ski carrier to bike carrier to luggage holder?

it's kinda easy...just a few bolts. but kinda unpleasant. it'd be smarter to buy wider than normal corssbars so you can have both at hte same time.
