In the PVW I have, there is a section on the MK3 Jetta, there are various Jettas and Ventos that are decently modified. I have a car and driver that says the 95 Jetta VR6 (my car) does 0-60 stock in 6.7. I have it in my hand right now. Now, there are Vento VR6's with intake exhaust cams and short shifters and they are running 0-60 in 7.65 and above, why is this? Are euro Jettas/Vento's slower to start with? Or is car and driver wrong? whats the deal?

Re: Slow euros? (VRsixVW)

quote:

one reason could be is that when the mags. print the 0-60 times they have professional drivers doing the testing and they know the drivetrain inside and out
0-60 times are usually rated lower than an actual day driver could hit

I disagree. When I'm at the track, I see drivers get a lot more out of their stock cars then magazines. Not everyone, but I see a lot.

"Euro" cars are all body mods... no engine stuff... At least this is typical.
But most magazines will overrate power... plus, as someone said... Professional drivers, on a perfect track, on a good day, with the wind at your back, on slicks will help...

Yeah...I went out and did a survey of every modded dub in NA and Europe and my conclusion was that they are faster than our crap as well. I know at first it seemed like a broad generalization based simply on geographic locations, but the survey results don't lie fellas....the survey results don't lie.

or they could pull a MaxPower and give out numbers(wrong #ers) on a cover car that they made up on their own.
