Well, after 47,000 miles, my car is finally starting to show some age.
The CEL came on and didn't go away. I used a VAG-COM to scan it and here are the codes:
1) 17965: Charge Pressure Control - Positive Deviation
2) 17705: Pressure Drop between turbo and throttle valve
3) 16795: Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect flow detected
#2 is beyond a doubt my stock divertor valve. I have a Forge DV ready to replace that. The other ones are a little more mysterious to me. #3 sounds like a MAF problem... and I have no clue what #1 is. Anybody want to shed some light?
The car is going in for 2nd gear grind diagnosis/fix in a few weeks. I'm hoping to have the dealer amend those codes, but I also want to make sure they don't charge me for fixing imaginary codes.

Re: Smart people needed - VAG codes (Overdrive)

That's a 1.8T right?
Code 1 means it's getting more boost than it's expecting, but what can cause that, I'm not sure. #3 confuses me, but maybe that is the diverter valve as well?
Edit: I definately didn't click on this thread because it said "Smart people needed"

Yes, it's a 1.8T.
Sounds like all three codes could be from the bad diverter valve.

Re: Smart people needed - VAG codes (Overdrive)

I'll take a stab and say #1 & 3 are the same thing... there is a pressure valve just after the turbo... this valve makes the compressed air from the turbo go into a loop back to the intake part of the turbo, effectively cooling the turbo... and so the turbo isn't pumping air into the intake when the engine idles... so the turbo spins free ...driven by the exhaust. When you hit the gas, the valve closes - forcing the turbo to build intake pressure. this process may be interrupted in some way. definitely a sticky valve.
