Folks, after owning my GTi VR6 for nearly a year I finally walked in to Wellesley VW in Wellesley MA and traded in for Galactic blue 2002 GTi 1.8t.
It has 17inch tocata wheel with Good Year z-rated tires. They threw mudflap and all for $20720. In return they are paying off my current GTi loan and I actually qualified for better APR, 5.39%. So my payment went down about $38/month.
I am loosing self-dimming mirror, leather and climatronics but I can live without those! I like clothes seats better anyway
They even offered me to replace my mods for free (brembo rotors, rearsway bar)
Anyway folks, as much as I loved my 2001 GTi VR6, I want to mod my car to go really fast with relatively cheap price.
Sale guy showed me around after the deal was sealed. Him and his coworkers are all VW enthusiasts themself. My sales guy had intake, catback and everything. So anyone of you from Boston area, I do highly recommend Wellesley VW.
Anyway, Sorry my fellow VR6ers. It is just that I cannot ignore the fact that 1.8t is 20v engine as verse to 12v of vr6. I was thinking about waiting for 24v VR6 but it will be so much more expensive than what I am purchasing. Afterall All I want to do is Chip, Catback and lowering.
So I need to start reading about turbos now. I have no idea about the engine except it makes that psssssssssh sound when I step on the gas
I will take some pictures when I pick the car up on Wednesday
