how much can you get back?
10kmiles on 2L 16v, spare 4k tranny but the 16v tranny in the car is nice and tight with new clutch, a trunk just full of spare odd this and that, big bumper swap to compliment the motoronic swap, power recaro's, (in the coming months) new glossy audi pearl black paint, a decent system, new rubber, tint, finishing touches.. when it's sold it'll be a package deal and fast as sh*t, too..
i have all recipts and i've documented the oil changes but i've only had to change it 3 times so far.. haha i just changed it last week along with new platnum bosch plugs
i'm prepared to get raped when the time comes to sell my GLI, but at the end of the summer i wanna trade up to an early 90's S4.. hehe quattro turbo.. hehee.. with the nicest interor i've ever seen IMHO...

i test drove a serverely beaten one... and i'm hooked they're beautiful... and if well maintained they last FOREVER.. so anyhow i got my heart set on one of them, but i can only have one car at a time.. later i'm sure i'll be back to the mk1/mk2's but i need to concentrate on one reliable vehicle to get me thru the rest of high school then college.. ya dig?

Realistically: Buy something newer to start with

that's not the point.. i'm committed to this mk2 unless i sell it as an unfinished project.. i have it all planned out.. finish it totally by mid summer and by fall i'll be ready to sell out and buy somethin newer

I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but building up a car to sell it makes no sense financially. A modified car may be worth alot to you, but probably not to someone else. You should build the car for you, and if you end up selling it later along the line, well at least you enjoyed driving it while you had it.

estus.. you doin anything special for your 1000th post? ...

and i know it makes not too much sense but by the same token i'm committed... it looks like poop and there are a lotta loose ends.. only i really know what's left to be done and that sort of thing.. i donno i've got like $5k into it at the moment and i don't expect to get all of that back as it sits.. it's 2 different colors w/ no radio etc... if it's got brand new paint and brand new stereo it might fetch like $6k.. and whoever buys it is essentially buying a brand new car

he has spent about 6k on the 89...aka...2.0 16v motoronic...and a bunch of other work....i say DONT SELL IT

i put about 10k (recaros, balanced 2.0 from rpi, tt exhaust, a couple suspensions, kraftwerk tranny w/lsd...) into my 88 16v that i bought in june 97, including the car, and i was offered $4000 w/152k in december 00, so i sold it for a total of $4150.
yea, i lost some money, but it was a lot of fun. if you want to move on, do it. i did, and i'm plenty happy. i'd def. go for the s4- theyre really cool cars.

realistically speaking..if i had $10g on me right now....and my dub..id sell my dub...put the money together..and buy something newer....or just keep the dub and with the $10 buy something else....we all need to move up in the german family ya know? Audi, Beemer, Porsche.get the picture?

well see i haven't spent all the money yet.. but in order to get ANY of the money back on the other end i have to spend it in the near future so the car's really nice and actuially worth something.. and i get sick of things easily... sure there's no end to hookin' up your car, but this is my 4th jetta.. it'll be the nicest one so far if all goes well and according to plan.. and when my dreams are fulfilled, i'll say okay.. what's next? that's right.. turbo quattro.. that's whats next...

but i cant have 2 cars at once.. it's nowhere near realistic for a high school kid headed towards college... i only need one, i only want one.. which one may never be decided but i lose my concentration and can't decide which one to buy things for haha i tried it once it didn't work... i think i have add when it comes to vehicles..

o ya and i don't have $10k in my pocket to throw around.. but with the money already spent, and the money i'm planning to spend.... $10k is lookin close to the total pricetag will be when all is said and done. This sh*t ain't cheap!
