I noticed on my way to dinner last night that my radio reception wasn't so good. When I got to the restaraunt, I noticed that my antenna mast was MIA. Called the dealer this morning, and was quoted $45 to replace!
Any suggestions?
If MDX antenna will work, my life may have just gotten easier. Not only is it cheaper, but the Acura dealer is two blocks away, the VW store is 20 minutes away.

This is why you will use Loc-Tight on this antenna right?!?! HINT : The correct answer is yes.
By doing this the antenna with be a PIA to get out and most likely they will give up.
Re: Some Loser stole my GTI's antenna! (csunshine)
the original antenna on my celica was stolen too
i read somewhere about the s2000 antenna and ordered it.
The reception isn't as good as it was before though
Re: Some Loser stole my GTI's antenna! (csunshine)
it's a powder which comes in a little tube that you put into the screw hold before you reattach the antenna. Once it's set it makes it VERY hard to unscrew.
You an prob find it at any hobby shop, ski shop, or hardware store. It's fairly common. Comes in a little tube.
Ohh it looks like I spelled it wrong, should be "loctite"
Try this, not the brand name stuff, but sounds similar. http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDU...oadvision.session.new=Yes&search_text=loctite
Re: Some Loser stole my GTI's antenna! (landrumdh)
it's actually a blue (or red) liquid polymer that hardens and makes it impossible to turn by hand. Make sure it's the blue one. The red one is the 'permanent' one. The blue one is still very hard to undo with a wrench. Every hardware store sells it. Use only a little bit first.
I heard that the reception takes a huge dive for the worst with the MDX and S2000 antennas... I think I still wanna get one, but is it really as bad as I've heard? or just slightly worse?
This happened to me too once. If I were you I would not use lock tight. If you go through a
car wash I sometimes take my antenna off or sometimes they do. If you put lock tight on it
and you want to remove it sometime, you could screw up your roof seal or something. I would
be on the side of caution with this one. It could fix your problem but purhaps cause another later.
Just my 2 cents!

As long as you don't use to much it will be easy enough to undo. But most likely not without catching attention.
