Sony and Toyota, what's the connection???

So I'm watching the new Toyota Matrix ad on TV when the very last scene shows the guy in the Matrix getting away and he's using a Sony VAIO laptop... it then occurs to me that Toyota's emotional car concept the "Pod" also uses Sony technology, the same or similar used in their Cyber Pets like Aibo the dog.
Are these two giants on the verge of a mammoth corporate merger or what?
