I have the "premium sound system" in the car now - the rear speaker covers look like its a 2 piece speaker system. I havent pulled the cover off yet.
I looked at crutchfield fit page and it doesnt even mention the dash mounted speakers - what size are they?
A nice head unit was installed right before I got the car - but I can hear a definite buzz/muffled sound coming from the rear driver side speakers.
Are there any inline amps or anything like that since it has the upgraded system in it?

Re: Speaker replacement (a21stcdb)

I just put an old Alpine deck in my '96 (i have a glove box in mine -
-black interior) there don't seem to be any amps in mine. 6 inch speakers in each door, 3inch dash speakers, and what look like 6 inch seperates in the rear. I'll IM the picture of the Glove box this weekend sometime

Re: Speaker replacement (a21stcdb)

I believe MB Quart makes a very nice drop in replacement speaker array for your car
we had this three way set up in our 96 GTI
so I assume cabrio has same dash and door speaker locations and sizes
The buzz sound from that rear speaker is blown speaker
check out a specialty car audio shop and/or the car audio forum in the vortex
you should find the answers there
