I may just go to Le Mans next year, I can't count on excellent 24 hr. coverage anymore. The other 3 Grand Slam of Sportscar races are within an 8 hour drive for me thankfully

Very true! I can't believe how pervasive NASCAR is in America. If you ask a typical American about motorsport, they instantly say: "NASCAR" I should know b/c my friends knows that I'm a car and motorsports nut. And they automatically think that I'm a NASCAR fan!!! So I have to explain to them that there's whole world out there besides left-hand turns and NASCAR i.e. Formula One, WRC, Touring car, Sportscar racing etc.

Dear Speedvision/Speed Channel Programmers:
As a motorsport enthusiast, I am VERY DISPLEASED to hear that you will be showing nothing except NASCAR programs from 3PM to 12AM everyday. Let me say something. There is more to auto racing than simply NASCAR. There is more to auto racing than simply left hand turns. Did I miss something here? There is more to auto racing than simply NASCAR.
I am TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED that no primetime hours will be devoted to Formula 1, Touring Car or World Rally Championship racing. There is a large market for these forms of racing, where there is more variety than the simple bump and run, oval track driving of NASCAR. Let me reiterate: I am DEEPLY SADDENED that no primetime hours will be devoted to the likes of Daytona 24, Sebring, Le Mans or Petit Le Mans.
Can we show the American public that drivers like Colin McRae have as much drawing power as, and perhaps more skill than Dale Earnhardt Jr, and that WRC is easily as thrilling, if not more so than NASCAR? There is one way to find out and that is to take risks. Does the Speed Channel have any VISION? Or will it take the easy way out?
I am afraid that Speed Channel might LOSE my business here. There are many out there like me who might end their Speed Channel subscriptions now that it will show only NASCAR in primetime. No doubt we will continue supporting you if there is quality motor sport programming and quality documentary programming on the Speed Channel.
Please devote time to the other motorsports. Please devote time to quality programming. I do not wish to stay up until 3 AM to watch Autoweek or Petit Le Mans.

Ohmigosh! I went to a NASCAR Winston Cup event at the Poconos Speedway last year. Trust me, not to watch the race-- It was a pure sociological study. I was there as an observer of the subculture of NASCAR patrons. I got as far as the ticket booths. There were many many parking lots scattered throughout the Pennsylvania woods around the racetrack. Each one of them were filled with tailgaters in humungous pickup trucks and RVs with the rebel flag. A lot of shirtless men with beer bellies. It was scaaary.
I said in my letter that there is a large market for non-NASCAR races. It's nowhere near the NASCAR market, no doubt. But here's the classic chicken and egg problem. You can't grow markets without test showing them. But testing them at 3AM will not succeed because people won't be watching at 3AM.
