Well... speedo cable will NOT come out worth a ****.
I've been spraying the hell out of it for a week with PB Blaster, and still nothing.
Easy or at least safe way to get this thing out??

is the tranny still in the car??? i had one sieze up and in the end i wound up cutting the cable and then prying the metal cup out with screwdrivers, this was during a tranny pull though.
if that's all it was... I am so going to kill myself. wow.

lol did you think the bolt was there just for show?

um... I was just testing you guys?

Well, actually, I was pretty sure I removed it to get the cable out, but I think I put it back in after I got the first plate off.
So yeah.

Re: (yettitheman)

That bolts not doing anything, removing it's not going to get the sized cable cup out of the case.

Carefully pry/mangle/extract the cup surrounding the cable, out of the case. Take care not to drop bits into the trans. And don't over tighten the bolt when you install the new cable, they strip out easily.

Uhh what? Prying and twisting with the bolt in there isn't going to do anything. The bolt must be removed before you do anything. The trans is out of the car. Once the bolt is removed, there will be plenty of room to get the cup out of the case.

I'm not saying it doesn't need to come out. I'm saying that it's not the reason that the cup won't.

Re: (secondgen)

So the cup is actually part of the speedo cable... like in this picture:

If so... I'll just air chisel that thing right out.
